Howell Green Fine Art Gallery is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition of new works by Teri Garcia and Mary Beth Schwartzenberger. Entitled, Nature Works, the show will run from February 6 through March 6, 2004 at the Howell Green Gallery, Located in the heart of Topanga Canyon (across the street from Inn of the 7th ray & the Topanga Post Office). There will be a wine & cheese reception for the artists, Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1-4 pm.
TERI GARCIA
A native of California, Teri Garcia is a member of Women Painters West, the states premier association for female artists, founded in 1921. Garcias featured works are composed of colored pencil on paper, She received a B.A. in fine art (with an emphasis in painting and drawing) from Cal State Fullerton and studied with Leo Robinson, Don Lagerberg, Bettye Saar, and Karen Carson.
Garcias work is at once dreamlike and precise. Her unpopulated landscapes are warm, colorful, surreal and immensely pleasing. They Reflect her time working for the U.S. Forest service in the Los Padres National Forest out of the Chuchupate Ranger Station, where she rode horseback with pack mules and lived in the back-country enjoying kerosene lantern light and wood stove cooking.
Garcia has exhibited at various galleries in Los Angeles and the Central Coast of California. She has had one-woman shows at Orlando Gallery in Tarzana, California Village Square Gallery in Montrose, Aquarius Gallery in Cambria, and Wailoa Art Center in Hilo, Hawaii. This year, she was selected with eleven other artists for the Wallworks show at the Brewery Annex, for LA Artcores 20th Annual Juried Competition.
She is a past President of Women Painters West and is on the Board of Directors of VIVA Gallery in Northridge, California.

Mary Beth Schwartzenberger
Mary Beth Schwartzenberger, a native of Chicago, originally trained as a handweaver, where she developed her strong identification with color and texture. Among her featured work are monoprints, which utilize all of the elements of her training, her experiences with nature, fiber and texture. All of her works share a love of material, color and texture.
Schwartzenberger, too, is a member of Women Painters West and the National Association of Women Artists. She exhibits and sells her work nationally and internationally. She has also recently had a work of fiber art juried into the Fiberarts Design Book 7 Competition (there were 6,000 entries and 550 works selected). Fiberarts Design Book 7 will be released by Lark Books, Asheville, North Carolina, in the Spring of 2004. It will be available at Barnes and Noble and other bookstores.
The Howell Green Fine Art Gallery, located in Topanga, is owned and operated by Julie Howell and M. David Green. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm and by appointment.
