MARY BETH SCHWARTZENBERGER’S WORK SELECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL DESIGN BOOK

Mary Beth Schwartzenberger of Los Angeles, California has had a work of fiber art juried into the Fiberarts Design Book 7 competition.

Nearly 6,000 entries were received from more than 35 countries, and the staff of FIBERARTS Magazine selected 550 works to be published in the book.  The winning entries were selected on the basis of artistic quality, technical diversity, depth and unique vision that comprise the field called the fiber arts.

The work selected is titled, Water Lilies, and is a mixed media piece utilizing paper and fabric in a collage process.  Mary Beth Schwartzenberger is a member of Women Painter’s West, a women’s art organization that was founded in the 20’s in Southern California, as well as the National Association of Women Artists.   She exhibits and sells her work nationally and internationally.

The Fiberarts Design Book series features contemporary quilting, surface design, weaving, paper, mixed media and other fiber related techniques.  The Design Book series has documented the evolution of contemporary textile art since 1980.  This seventh volume in the series covers work completed since 1998.

Fiberarts Design Book 7 will be released by Lark Books, Asheville, North Carolina, in the Spring of 2004.  It will be available at Barnes and Noble and other bookstores.

Since 1976, FIBERARTS Magazine has promoted contemporary fiber art and offered a forum for the textile arts community.
